29- Too dumb?

~•} C H A P T E R|29 {•~

"Who was he?" Naina hushed in a low tone looking at the empty sofa where Vikram was sitting a second before.

"How am I supposed to know!?" Raina retorted looking at her husband who was standing there with a murderous glint in his eyes, fisting his hand so sight, that she feared it might break his fingers.

It had been so long since she saw Aakarsh this angry.

Ruhanika as usual didn't participate in the conversation but stood there with a creased forehead trying to understand what just happened.

"Vikram Singhania," Ishani told coolly glancing back at her precious mobile phone raising Naina's anxiety.

Naina for sure knew that Rathores and Singhanias were rivals.

"How do you know him?" Naina exclaimed in a low tone.

Looking away from her phone for a second, Ishani smiled, "Oh! He was my ex-boyfriend." and focussed her attention back on the device in her hand.

Naina gasped as she looked at Ishani in horror while Raina sighed boredly and mumbled, "Naina, she is being sarcastic."

Naina took a breath of relief.

Apparently, the boyfriend thing didn't settle well with her, and that too with a Rathore rival. A big no!

She was for sure a good Indian girl but Ishani was anything but that.

"Then how do you know him?" Naina questioned again unable to keep her curiosity at bay to which Ishani lazily showed her phone where she was regarding an article regarding the same.

"Vikram Singhania, the second Singhania brother handles the company along with his big brother Udgam. His relationship status is none as he is moreover a womanizer. The relationship between his family and Rathores is rocky and the reason is suspected as Shreshtha Singhania." Ishani read out aloud the article she was previously reading in her mind.

The other three squeezed their mind for some clues but finding none they shrugged the matter excluding Raina.

Raina wasn't able to get the image of enraged Aakarsh from her mind.

After that incident, she hadn't seen him this angry and she knew that she was going to scratch this matter out!

I will make sure that Aakarsh spits the truth out.

Raina thought going towards the kitchen to make a black coffee for Aakarsh as per their agreement.

Aakarsh breathed heavily trying to control the boiling rage inside him. He closed his eyes tight gritting his teeth as once again Vikram's face flashed in his mind.

No, he needed to stay calm right now.

Umm... if not calm then at least in his senses!

All he was able to think about was his twin right now.

Aakarsh knew he was supposed to stay angry at Aadarsh but also right now he needed to check on Aadarsh as the last time Aakarsh left him alone. . .

He inhaled sharply at those dark memories.

No, he needed to see his brother.

Breathing heavily in anger, he took heavy steps towards his brother's room.

He just hoped his Naina bhabhi didn't reach before him or else the questions and accusations would only draw his brother closer to the things he wanted his brother to stay apart from.

He swallowed hard feeling anxious at the sight of that wooden door.

He hoped.

He just hoped Aadarsh was alright.

With slightly trembling hands he pushed the door as it opened with a creak.

Oh, it was opened!?

He glanced inside in a hurried manner as his eyes caught his brother who was staring in his direction while sitting on the couch as if waiting for him?

"Oh! I was waiting for you." Aadarsh pointed out shrugging slightly while Aakarsh brows elevated in surprise!

No grimaced expression!?

No scowl!?

How the fuck is this possible! Aakarsh thought looking at his all calm and composed brother.

"I know you would come to check on me... So now am I forgiven?" Aadarsh questioned sipping the tea his wife gave him earlier.

Uh, it had gotten cold but still... He didn't want to waste her efforts.

Aakarsh couldn't hold his curiosity anymore so seating himself beside his brother he told, "Oh fuck those apologies and everything. Tell me how in this world did you didn't give a fuck about that shithead said."

Aadarsh flinched at the abundance of use of curses but knowing his brother well, he knew that it was no use to point that out because simply in his brother's language, Aakarsh didn't give a fuck.

Aadarsh sighed in relief. Finally, Aakarsh behaved like Aakarsh.

"Bro, fucking answer me." Aakarsh grew impatient with each passing second to which Aadarsh simply shrugged nonchalantly.

"I don't know. I don't feel anything now when those things are mentioned. Neither anger nor sadness. I was a fool back then and I've accepted that." Aadarsh explained clearing his throat in-between.

Duh, it had been long since he said so long sentences!

Aakarsh wasn't able to hold his contentment anymore as he hugged his brother in the excitement that was rushing through his veins while Aadarsh awkwardly wrapped his arms around Aakarsh.

Hugging Naina is better. Aadarsh thought as he pulled away.

At least Raina doesn't pull away so harshly. I won't fucking hug this man in the future. Aakarsh grumbled in his mind though he knew that Raina wasn't able to pull back like this due to Aakarsh's heavy arms but still he was sure if she did, she wouldn't do it this harshly.

Aadarsh smiled apologetically in Aakarsh direction to which Aakarsh huffed and teased, "This means you are moving on from that black hole created in your mind and this time with the right person."

Aadarsh shook his head at the teasing and retorted, "I can also see that my forever single brother has apparently got a woman's company in his bachelor life."

"Who?" Aakarsh dumbfoundedly questioned with a frown and confusion-filled eyes.

Aadarsh clicked his tongue in annoyance and sighed thinking, What else can I expect from this dumb man?

"I'm talking about Raina, you fool!" Aadarsh exclaimed annoyedly.

Realization seemed to draw upon Aakarsh as the frown on his forehead vanished and was replaced with a faraway look in his eyes, "Oh! Raina..." He trailed off in a softer voice this time.

Raina... No, their relationship was very different and he never thought about her in another way. She was the only woman he ever opened up to emotionally even if it was very little and apologized. She listened to his blabbering and had time for him most importantly. She even had the guts to argue and correct him!

Even though she still hadn't forgotten him, would flinch at his touch and would not talk much...he would most likely cope with that!

Aadarsh simply shook his head.

His brother was too dumb.

While Aakarsh looked at the wall clock with horror mirroring his face.

7:00 am!

He had to go to the gym, then pack the remaining items and they had to leave by 11:00 am too!

Vardhaan annoyedly groaned in the hotel room.

He had woken up way too early due to sleeping early yesterday!

And he slept early because after his meeting finished, he had no better work to do other than scrolling his phone which was now boring him too!

Everything seemed way too boring here!

He yawned stretching his limbs and ordered a cup of tea for him.

Soon, he heard a knock and opened the door only to come face to face with a young woman who was also the hotel staff and came to deliver his ordered beverage.

He sighed going walking back to the couch inside the hotel room while that woman kept the tray on the glass table situated in the center.

"Uh... Wait! Can you give me company for some time?"

He asked that woman whose face was now drained from all the colors as she looked at him with accusation filled eyes and . . . disgust?

Vardhaan mentally face palmed himself as he repeated his words in his mind.

Apparently, they actually did not sound that clean.

"I... I'm sorry. I by any means didn't mean them in the way you are taking them. I was just bor- Never mind. I apologize for the unprofessional behavior." He apologized to which she nodded still looking at him with suspicion as she went away slamming the door shut with a loud thud.

Well, now he was even making women uncomfortable.

Just fucking GREAT! Vardhaan groaned running his hand down his face.

I've lost my mind being bored. He murmured to himself as Yuvraj never burdened him with work too much and he always had free time even on these business trips which he spent clubbing and having fun.

He wasn't in the mood to go to the club once again after the incident that happened the day before yesterday night.

Recognizing him well, one fangirl went overboard with happiness as she latched herself upon him and kissed his cheeks rapidly catching him by surprise and leaving him too stunned.

He knew that she wasn't hitting on him and was well aware of the fact that he was married. It was just her innocent infatuation with him.

But it did make him way too uncomfortable...

Well married or not. He never enjoyed this attention.

And this time he made someone uncomfortable so he was definitely feeling bad.

He only enjoyed troubling one girl and that was also in his house right now so not seeing any other option he dialed her number.

He didn't want to admit but he enjoyed annoying her.

The way she would not now down amused him and irked him to some extent too!

After two rings, she finally picked up the phone,

"Why did you hurt your poor fingers in calling me, Mr. husband?"

Her high-pitched shrill voice greeted him making him smile excitedly.

Finally, he wouldn't get bored!

"You know what, I missed being around you." He said way too sweetly to which he heard her huff and could imagine her rolling his eyes at him.

"Awww," she fake awed.

"Yes, afterall it became my routine to insult you..." He completed his earlier sentence.

"You know what, the house is way too silent the humans are only left and all the animals are out."

"Aww Mrs. wife, missing your similar species already?"

"Thank God, you at least agreed that you aren't a human."

"Okay. But don't you know? Two people of the same kind get married and that makes you an animal too."

"Animals are way better than humans in my eyes so... I'm okay with that."

"Well, in other words, you are calling me better than others. Don't worry baby I get the meaning of your hidden words."

"Vardhaan!" She roared.

"What did I do?" He replied innocently.

"Arghh! Leave it. Do you like animals?" She suddenly questioned catching him off guard.

"As in pets?"

"Yeah, pets."

"What the fuck! No! I love my room and stuff too much to have those creatures around me with their hair sprawled everywhere."

"Hmm.." she hummed as he suspiciously raised his eyebrows.

"What are you planning?"

"Nothing Mr. Husband. Enjoy your trip to the fullest. Have a not-so-great day!"

With this, the call was cut making him angry.

What is she planning?

He thought resting his hand on his forehead.

Raina impatiently waited for Aakarsh with another cup of steaming black coffee. God knows where he went leaving her with a brain that was now a mess with so many questions swirling in it,

Why Vikram Singhania or Singhanias were loathed so much in Rathore Family?

Was it just due to business or there was another reason behind it?

Why all of a sudden Aakarsh was enraged?

And so many whys which only he could answer.

In her anxiety and nervousness, she drank two cups of that bitter liquid herself as they were getting cold due to Aakarsh's absence.

She knew it was easier to break his shell than other Rathores.

And then she heard his heavy footsteps outside the room as he came inside in a... good mood?

"Aakarsh," Raina called out suspiciously in a low tone fisting her Kurti.

Oof, she needed to be cautious, he gave her bipolar vibes.

"Yeah," he answered in a joyous tone as he took the cup filled with steaming black coffee she forwarded, in his hold.

Raina didn't know how to start as she nervously stood there eyeing him testing the waters while nipping at her lip.

He seemed in a happy mood so it was probably safe to talk, right?

She inhaled a deep breath of encouragement and was fully determined to now bombard him with the questions she was stressing her mind with but as soon as she inhaled, she exhaled the breath of encouragement seeing his lips parting to blabber his own mind,

"You know what you don't have to do all this... Like making my coffee in the morning. We are past that agreement thing now." He stated continuously sipping the coffee she gave and she just gave him a fed-up look.

Is he for real? She thought locking eyes with his dark brown ones which were staring back at her warmly this time.

"It's fine. I mean I don't have much work here and making a cup of coffee doesn't hurt." She politely told to which he instantly replied,

"Oh thank God! I couldn't even think of going back to that awful excuse for a coffee Savita Aunty makes and I can't make coffee for its own good." He joked making her surprised as she stared down at him with a stunned expression.

"So, it was the same reason for adding this coffee part in that agreement?"

"Of course!"

"You could've asked me nicely." She pointed out.

"Ooh... I wanted to make a good image of myself... Like a powerful one you know!" He exclaimed.

"Well, you sounded rude, to be honest."

"And I wanted to be like that with you in the early days of our marriage... Well, leave it." He sighed dejectedly feeling guilt trap him from all sides.

"So why would you even propose me to quit making coffee if you didn't want me to do that?" She asked curiously looking right into his dark brown eyes.

"Well, I wanted to take your consent in coffee making... You know."

His answer made her tongue-tied for a second but composing herself she changed the topic,

"Why can't you make your own coffee?"

Aakarsh sighed deeply at her question as he began, "When I was fifteen, I tried to make a coffee for myself but you know what?"

"What?" Raina exclaimed thinking of the worst outcomes.

"The hot boiling water touched my fingertips resulting in bristles and the scar remained for whole one week!" He finished off by blowing air through his mouth as if he remembered the worst memory.

Raina shook her head in disbelief.

She couldn't deal with this man!

She just couldn't!

So leaving this matter as it was, she decided to focus on the matter brewing in her head as she questioned inhaling sharply,

"Why do you loathe Singhanias so much?"

Instantly she could see the effect of her question as his breathing turned sharp and his grip on the coffee cup tightened so much that his knuckles turned white and the tension on his neck chords became visible increasing her heartbeat in fear.

Yes, the fear for him was still there.

Even if it was lessening with each passing day.

She took a few steps back in fear as she saw him turning towards her. She closed her eyes not wanting to face what was coming next...

Maybe it was a bad idea to ask him about all this.

And she had to pay.

"Raina," She heard him call her . . . gently?

She opened her black eyes which directly came in contact with his brown ones which held warmth this time and his face showed calmness.

Maybe he had now learned how to control his anger in front of her.

"Sit," he whispered patting the place on the bed beside him to which she obliged.

She wanted to know the truth today.

She was eager to unveil the truth today.

She felt him sigh deeply as he ran his hands through his thick hair and giving them a disheveled look...
